Anantara Zanzibar

Anantara Zanzibar is a luxury resort and villa development on Zanzibar, produced for Minor Hotels. Kunkun Visual delivered CGI stills and a commercial film, rebuilding the resort’s real surroundings and lighting every key facility in both daylight and night settings so investors could judge the atmosphere before construction began.

About the project

Anantara Zanzibar had to be sold before it existed, which meant the film could not just show the buildings. It had to carry the feeling of standing there.

So we rebuilt the resort’s actual surroundings rather than a generic tropical set, and lit it twice: once in the soft daylight that shows the architecture, once in the warm glow that changes its mood entirely.

Every key facility appears in both. A viewer sees the resort at breakfast and at midnight inside the same three minutes.

Story

Anantara Zanzibar is a private resort built for people who want to be hard to reach. You can arrive by car, by helicopter or by boat, and the arrival is part of what is being sold.

Turquoise water on one side, untouched land on the other, and very little in between.

Process and solutions

The brief was ambience, not inventory. Every texture and every light was set to match the real place rather than to flatter it.

The storyline follows the arrival: by land, by air, by sea. That structure says how private the resort is without a line of voiceover having to claim it.

Several facilities were built in 3D and shown across the day, from a bright tropical morning to a quiet night, so an investor could stand in the space long before the ground was broken.
